Mad Men for Banana Republic Animal Print Pumps

Eyed this a while back, but didn’t buy until a couple of weeks ago.  I was hesitant in purchasing Banana Republic shoes, because a few years ago, I tried on a pair of shoes and my feet slipped off as soon as I started walking.  Being a very small size 5, I was very hesitant in trying Banana Republic shoes again.  However, after reading several reviews from other bloggers, including Extra Petite, who all said that Banana Republic shoes are now (surprisingly) small, I changed my mind.  Most Banana Republic stores don’t carry 5, so I went online.  The Canadian e-commerce store still carried some pieces from the Mad Men collection and I purchased the animal print shoes right away.

The shoes 🙂 (aka The Mad Men® Collection Izzy classic pump in Butterscotch – $120 Canadian), size 5

Wearing the shoes! (Please excuse the feet wrinkles)…the pants are from Femme de Carriere (size 30 (aka 0)

The shoes arrived within a few days.  They have a very fuzzy feel to them, kind of cute, I thought.  The heel height is about 4″ but feels lower because of the platform.  The fit is a bit narrower than other shoes I’ve purchased, especially towards the toes, but it isn’t too small.  My only issue with these shoes is that from time to time, my feet are STILL slipping out, despite being a smaller feet (and maybe the fact that my feet look wrinkly in one of the pictures).  Must be my uber-narrow heels and regular width feet.  Definitely going to try heel liners to see if they stay in!

The shoes, paired with a short little black dress, also from Banana Republic (OLD and a size 0P)

As to when I’m going to wear these shoes – I’m definitely taking them with me to Hong Kong!  While I’m definitely NOT going to walk around Hong Kong wearing these shoes every day, I think they’d be great for the many holiday-centric parties I’ll be attending!

  • Have fun at your holiday parties! It’s a shame they still don’t really fit you. Some of Ann Taylor’s shoes run small this year. THe lizard wedges almost fit me in a size 6, so I wonder how a 5 would be on you. I know they don’t ship yet to Canada but didn’t know if you had US relatives & friends to order stuff for you.

    • I’ll probably need the to order it for me, too.  Ann Taylor/LOFT won’t take non-US billing addresses. Oh well…maybe wait until they have international shipping…

  • Sigh, I only wish I fit a size 5! 🙂 They look great though, even if they do slip off!
